Loch Ossian - Framed Size 70 x 50 cm

INSPIRATION:

Inspiration for my watercolours is derived from my interest in landscape and architecture in Scotland and from travels abroad, particularly to Greece, Ireland Spain, Italy and America. I also have a keen interest in photography  which  has assisted  in collecting and collating subject material, assessing composition, loighting, tonal contrast and colour balance.

Although I draw inspiration from a wide range of artists, favourites must include Andrew Wyeth, Michael Morgan RI, Arthur Melville and Edward Seago.

I have also drawn heavily on the teachings of David Bellamy & Geoff Kersey in the past.

LOCATION

My studio is located in Kirkinch near Meigle Perthshire (see locationmap on About page) I am open to visits during Strathmore Open Studios week in and when I am at home for casual visitors and also by appointment at any other time.

SALES:

As an amateur artist I try to keep my artwork affordable and I do not accrue any income from sales. Many works are donated for charitable purposes through charity auctions, raffles etc with 100% of monies received going to the local and national charities supported. These include various NHS (Ninewells) charitable foundations, Maggies, THAT, Macmillan Nurses and several local children's charities.

So far over £4500 has been raised and distributed to these charities

All other proceeds from sales go towards expenses involved in preparing and donating paintings to charity, replenishing art equipment and framing materials. Local travel expenses in obtaining reference material and maintaining my studio and gallery space.

All artwork on this site are original watercolours (I do not make or sell prints other than for small promotional greetings cards) I want all owners to know that what they have is unique

Work is available for sale and commissions for visitable subjects or where I have my own copyright  sketch / photographic reference material are welcome.

Prices range from £50 for small works, and £135 for 40 x 50cm framed  and up to £250 for 70 x 50 cm framed subject to complexity and success of the work.

All paintings available for sale are mounted and framed and are priced individually. If you wish a painting unframed it will come double mounted ready for framing. A discount of between £10 and £30 will be offered for unframed paintings depending on size.   Carriage, when required will be added at packing and transit cost. All large framed paintings (above 50 x 40cm) requiring transport by a carrier will be glazed with clear perspex as insurance is unavailable for glass. (The only noticable difference between the two materials is the lighter weight of perspex and all previous purchasers have been happy with this substitution)

All paintings  which are not for sale (as indicated next to the painting in the galleries) have been ,sold, gifted,  donated for charity or are retained by the artist's family. As reference material is available commissions for similar subjects would be welcome.
